Other parties include: spouses, parents, friends, collegues, or legal counsel. Approval is at the sole discretion of the assessing physician, and is not guarnteed. Accommodation will be made for translation services, if required.
  • Please plan to be with us for up to 3 hours.
  • Should you have any questions or concerns about your appointment, please contact 780-399-4603.

The Assessment

  • An IME is usually used when someone has a complex health situation. The doctor who will be doing your assessment is an experienced expert who will make fair and objective determinations to provide clarity to your situation.
  • The assessment will probably feel like any other doctor's appointment. The doctor will ask you some questions, and may perform some tests. We encourage you to be as truthful and upfront with the doctor as possible.
  • Even though it might feel like any other doctor's appointment, an IME is different because you will not become this doctor's patient. This means that you will not get any prescriptions written, will not get any treatments, and will not see this doctor again.
  • The purpose of this IME is for assessment only. However, the IME doctor might make recommendations for treatment, and those recommendations can be provided to your family doctor.
  • As part of the assessment, the doctor might send you for tests or request information from other doctors, surgeons, or psychiatrists you've seen in the past. This helps the IME doctor to get the most accurate picture of your health.
  • Even though the IME doctor has been hired by the Requesting Party, the IME doctor does not work for the Requesting Party. It is the doctor's job to be completely impartial, neutral, and unbiased.
  • Audio and/or video recording are not allowed during your appointment. If the assessor discovers that recording is taking places, the assessment may be canceled at any time.
  • You will be required to sign a consent form that allows the doctor to communicate his findings with the Requesting Party. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

After the Assessment

  • The doctor will write a report that will be sent to the Requesting Party. This report will answer specific questions about what the doctor found during the assessment.
  • If you would like a copy of the report for yourself or your family doctor, please contact the Requesting Party.
